FAV single point load cell overview

The FAV is an aluminum single point load cell designed for accurate weight measurement in platform scales, belt scales, hopper scales, and packaging systems in the 100 to 500 kg range. As a single point cell, it is engineered so that loads applied anywhere across the platform surface produce an accurate, consistent reading — making it the ideal choice for off-center loading applications where a standard bending beam or shear beam cell would produce errors. The FAV mounts via M8 threaded holes and ships with a 6 m cable. Available in 100 kg, 150 kg, 250 kg, and 500 kg capacities, it is suited for applications that require a higher-capacity single point cell while retaining the simplified installation and compact footprint of a single-cell design. Technical notes

Installation and mounting

The FAV mounts via M8 threaded holes. The cell body must be mounted on a flat, rigid surface with the platform attached to the top face of the cell. For best accuracy, the mounting surface and platform must be flat and parallel — warped or uneven surfaces will compromise the single point correction and degrade off-center load performance. No summing junction box is required since a single FAV cell handles the full platform area.

System integration

The FAV operates at a rated excitation of 10V DC/AC (15V max) and produces a 2.0 mV/V analog output signal. It is compatible with any standard weight indicator, PLC analog input, or load cell conditioner accepting a mV/V bridge input. Ships with a 6 m cable. The cell is temperature compensated between -10°C and +40°C, with a safe operating range of -10°C to +70°C.
