FAS single point load cell overview

The FAS is an aluminum single point load cell designed for accurate weight measurement in bench scales, retail scales, postal scales, and small platform weighing systems. As a single point cell, it is engineered so that loads applied anywhere across the platform surface produce an accurate, consistent reading — making it the ideal choice for off-center loading applications where a standard bending beam or shear beam cell would produce errors. The FAS mounts via four 1/4"-20 UNC threaded holes and ships with a 2.75 m cable. Available in 30 kg and 50 kg capacities, it is a direct drop-in replacement for the most widely used single point load cells from Rice Lake, Tedea, HBM, and others.

Technical notes

Installation and mounting

The FAS mounts via four 1/4"-20 UNC threaded holes. The cell body must be mounted on a flat, rigid surface. The platform attaches to the top face of the cell. For best accuracy, the mounting surface and platform must be flat and parallel — warped or uneven surfaces will compromise the single point correction and degrade off-center load performance. No summing junction box is required since a single FAS cell handles the full platform area.

System integration

The FAS operates at a rated excitation of 10V DC/AC (15V max) and produces a 2.0 mV/V analog output signal. It is compatible with any standard weight indicator, PLC analog input, or load cell conditioner accepting a mV/V bridge input. Ships with a 2.75 m cable.
