BAB-MT2 ultra performance S-beam overview

The BAB-MT2 is a high-precision S-beam load cell engineered for accurate tension and compression force measurement across a wide capacity range, from 2 lbf up to 11,000 lbf. Building on the original BAB-MT design, the MT2 delivers improved measurement repeatability and enhanced safe overload protection, even on higher capacity models, making it the preferred choice for demanding test and measurement applications where reliability under overload conditions is critical. A protective cover keeps the overload protection slots clear of debris for long-term dependability. With ±0.03% nonlinearity, IP67 sealing, and thread dimensions that meet major OEM requirements, the BAB-MT2 integrates directly into standard test frames, automated force measurement systems, and OEM equipment without modification.

Technical notes

Installation and alignment

The BAB-MT2 requires axial alignment between its two threaded connection points. Off-axis or side loading will degrade accuracy and may cause premature fatigue failure. For best results, use swivel rod ends or clevis adapters at both ends to allow self-alignment under load. Ensure threaded connections are engaged to at least one full thread diameter. The protective cover over the overload slots should remain in place during normal operation to prevent debris ingress.

System integration

The BAB-MT2 operates at a rated excitation of 10V DC/AC (15V max) and produces a 2 mV/V analog output signal via a shielded 28 AWG integrated cable (9 ft / 2.75 m). It is compatible with any standard weight indicator, force display, PLC analog input, or DAQ system accepting a mV/V bridge input. The shielded cable reduces noise susceptibility in electrically demanding test and automation environments.
