FASB single point load cell overview

The FASB is an aluminum single point load cell designed for accurate weight measurement in platform scales, packaging systems, and industrial batching applications. As a single point cell, it is engineered so that loads applied anywhere across the platform surface produce an accurate, consistent reading — making it the ideal choice for off-center loading applications where a standard bending beam or shear beam cell would produce errors. The FASB mounts via M6 threaded holes and ships with a 10 m cable. It is available in two capacity variants: the FASB CE covers 45 kg and 100 kg, and is a direct drop-in replacement for the Rice Lake RL1042, Tedea 1042, HBM SP4, RTI 642, and Scaime AG; the FASB C4 covers the 200 kg capacity. Both variants share identical electrical specifications and the same M6 mounting pattern, making the FASB a flexible choice across a wide range of single-platform weighing applications.

Technical notes

Installation and mounting

Both FASB variants mount via M6 threaded holes. The cell body must be mounted on a flat, rigid surface with the platform attached to the top face of the cell. For best accuracy, the mounting surface and platform must be flat and parallel — warped or uneven surfaces will compromise the single point correction and degrade off-center load performance. No summing junction box is required since a single FASB cell handles the full platform area.

System integration

The FASB operates at a rated excitation of 10V DC/AC (15V max) and produces a 2.0 mV/V analog output signal compatible with any standard weight indicator, PLC analog input, or load cell conditioner accepting a mV/V bridge input. Both variants ship with a 10 m cable and are temperature compensated between -10°C and +40°C, with a safe operating range of -10°C to +70°C.
