FAY single point load cell overview

The FAY is a heavy-duty aluminum single point load cell designed for accurate weight measurement in floor scales, tank weighing systems, and bin and hopper scales in the 250 to 1,000 kg range. As a single point cell, it is engineered so that loads applied anywhere across the platform surface produce an accurate, consistent reading — making it the ideal choice for large-platform applications where off-center loading is unavoidable. The FAY mounts via 5/16"-18 UNC or M12x1.75 threaded holes and ships with a 20 ft cable. Available in 250 kg, 500 kg, and 1,000 kg capacities, it supports platform sizes up to 24 x 24 in. The FAY is a larger-body cell designed for applications where the lighter-duty FAV or FASB C4 would be under-rated, and where a multi-cell floor scale arrangement would add unnecessary complexity.

System integration and instrumentation
The FAY produces a standard 2.0 mV/V analog output compatible with any weight indicator, PLC analog input, or DAQ system accepting a mV/V bridge signal. The 20 ft cable provides sufficient reach for most floor scale and hopper scale installations without requiring cable extensions.

Technical notes

Installation and mounting

The FAY mounts via 5/16"-18 UNC or M12x1.75 threaded holes and supports platform sizes up to 24 x 24 in. The cell body must be mounted on a flat, rigid surface with the platform attached to the top face of the cell. For best accuracy, the mounting surface and platform must be flat and parallel — warped or uneven surfaces will compromise the single point correction and degrade off-center load performance. No summing junction box is required since a single FAY cell handles the full platform area.

System integration

The FAY operates at a rated excitation of 10V DC/AC (15V max) and produces a 2.0 mV/V analog output signal. It is compatible with any standard weight indicator, PLC analog input, or load cell conditioner accepting a mV/V bridge input. Ships with a 20 ft cable. The cell is temperature compensated between -10°C and +40°C, with a safe operating range of -10°C to +70°C. Additional capacities including 150 kg, 200 kg, 300 kg, and 635 kg are available on request.
