FDI-02 bidirectional force measurement indicator overview

The FDI-02 is a high-performance bidirectional force measurement indicator designed for precision force testing and measurement applications. Unlike general-purpose weighing indicators, the FDI-02 is built specifically for force measurement, offering independent calibration curves for tension and compression loading modes, up to 7 calibration points per loading mode, and a sampling rate of 2 to 1,200 Hz with over 1,000,000 internal counts of resolution per mV/V. Peak and valley capture modes make it well suited for impact testing, tensile testing, and dynamic force measurement. The FDI-02 is available in a standard aluminum/ABS enclosure (IP64) and the FDI-02-SS in a stainless steel NEMA 4x/IP65 enclosure for wash-down and harsh environment applications. Bidirectional tension and compression measurement
Features independent calibration curves for both tension and compression loading modes, each with up to 7 calibration points entered via live capture or manual key-in. Delivers accurate readings regardless of load direction without reconfiguring the instrument.

Peak and valley capture modes
Automatically captures and holds peak and valley force values during dynamic testing cycles. Essential for impact testing, proof load testing, and any application where the maximum or minimum force must be recorded precisely.

High-speed sampling up to 1,200 Hz
The selectable 2 to 1,200 Hz sampling rate and internal resolution of over 1,000,000 raw counts per mV/V make the FDI-02 capable of capturing fast-changing force events that standard 10 Hz weighing indicators would miss entirely.

Quick Cal mode for live systems
Quick Cal mode enables live calibration on hydraulic and electromechanical test systems without removing the load cell from service. Reduces downtime significantly in production and quality control environments.

Multiple units of measure
Supports selectable units including ozf, gf, lbf, kgf, N, klbf, and kN. Switch between units on the fly to match the requirements of different test standards or customer specifications without recalibrating.

Configurable filtering and auto-zero
Configurable averaging filter and auto-zero allow the FDI-02 to be tuned for the specific noise and drift characteristics of each test setup, maintaining measurement accuracy across varying environmental and mechanical conditions.

Technical notes

Installation and connectivity

The FDI-02 connects to any standard mV/V load cell via its 14-pin load cell cable. A full-duplex RS-232C serial port supports data output to computers and printers for data logging and test reporting. The FDI-02 runs on 4 AA batteries (not included) or the included AC adapter. The FDI-02-SS variant includes an embedded 100-hour rechargeable battery with charger.

The FDI-02 is used in tensile and compression testing, proof load testing, quality control force verification, OEM test machine integration, material testing, cable and wire tension monitoring, and any application requiring high-resolution bidirectional force measurement with data capture.
